AMGH Foundation Long Table Dinner Raises $200,000 for MRI Campaign

September 04, 2025

A few days after the final guest left and the lights dimmed on the unforgettable Long Table Dinner, the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation team received news that made the evening even more special: the event had officially reached its $200,000 fundraising goal in support of the $6.5 million Magnetic Moments Campaign to bring a permanent MRI to the region.

Held at the Goderich airport, the dinner offered a stunning blend of fine dining, aviation history, and classic car culture—with antique planes parked beside rare and beautiful vehicles, including a convertible Rolls-Royce, a 1954 Jaguar, a 1990 collectible Porsche and some remarkable Model T's. But even more striking than the setting was the sense of unity and purpose that filled the air.

In the days following the dinner, as final donations were tallied, organizers discovered they were just over $600 short of their $200,000 target. When Mr. Ken McGee, a long-time supporter of the Foundation, heard the news, he quickly stepped forward with a gift that closed the gap—ensuring the event reached its goal in full.

“It was a beautiful ending to a powerful night,” said Kimberley Payne, Executive Director, AMGH Foundation “Mr. McGee’s generosity was the final spark in what was already an incredible show of support from this community.”

Adding to the impact of the evening was a major gift announcement from COAST, the development team behind the new neighbourhood in south Goderich. Founded by Rob Wood and his siblings, David and Kathy, COAST revealed a $250,000 donation to the MRI campaign, an inspiring gift that was received with great enthusiasm from the crowd.

“Having experienced firsthand the importance of quality healthcare, we know how critical it is for families and individuals to have access to the services they need, close to home,” said Rob Wood during the announcement.

Guided by the belief that a true community is built on more than just houses, COAST’s commitment is rooted in the values passed down by their parents, Cam and the late Nancy Wood, whose legacy of giving back continues to shape their work.

“This donation reflects our commitment to helping the Goderich community thrive—not just now, but for generations to come,” Rob added.

All proceeds from the Long Table Dinner and the newly announced gifts will go toward the Magnetic Moments Campaign, which aims to bring life-changing diagnostic services to Goderich and the surrounding area.

“This campaign is about more than equipment,” said Laura Herman, Chair, AMGH Foundation. “It’s about access. It’s about dignity. It’s about making sure people in our community don’t have to travel hours to get the care they need. Thanks to COAST, Mr. McGee, and every person who attended the dinner, we’re one step closer.”
